Men's Swim and Dive Finishes Day 1 of NCAA Championships

Wolsek placed eighth in the 50 Free.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Members of the Wayne State University men's swimming and diving squad participated Thursday morning to conclude the finals from Wednesday evening that were postponed due to severe weather in the Birmingham area.  The Warriors are currently seventh out of 20 teams that have scored with 44 points.
 
Freshman Michael Wolsek (Trenton, Mich.) placed eighth (19.94) in the 50 free.  In the consolation final, sophomore Luka Cvetko (Varazdin, Croatia) placed 11th (19.78).
 
In the 200 IM consolation final, freshman Alex Capizzo (Fraser, Mich.) placed 14th (1:49.05).
 
Wayne State finished seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:27.31), the quartet consisted of redshirt junior Franz Mueller (Brandenburg, Germany), Capizzo, Wolsek, and Cvetko.
 
UP NEXT:
 
This evening WSU will compete in the 200 free relay, where they are seeded fifth, and the 400 medley relay, where they are seeded sixth.  Individually, Wolsek will swim in the 100 fly, and Capizzo will participate in the 400 IM.
