Daniela Moreno Named to All-GLIAC Second Team

She is joined on the All-GLIAC Teams by Avery Howard and Grace Zimmerman.

DETROIT -- Three members of the Wayne State University women's golf program were on All-GLIAC Teams, which were announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Daniela Moreno (Bogota, Colombia) was a Second Team All-GLIAC honoree, while sophomore Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) and junior Grace Zimmerman (Bruce Twp., Mich. / Almont) were named to the Honorable Mention squad.

The trio helped lead the Green & Gold to its best-ever finish at the GLIAC Championships, finishing second after topping Northwood (3-1-1) in the semifinals of the medal match round before falling to top-seed Grand Valley State.

Moreno competed in nine total rounds and notched a 76.5 stroke average with a low round of 74 and two top-10 results plus a top-15 finish. This is the third career GLIAC postseason award for Moreno as she was a Second Team selection in 2018-19 and was named to the Honorable Mention Team in 2019-20.

Howard is on the Honorable Mention Team for the second time in her career. She posted an average round of 78.0, while competing in all 11 rounds. Howard had a low round of 73 and placed in the top-25 in all four events, including ninth-place result at the Cavalier Classic. A Division I transfer, Zimmerman was playing in her first season with the Warriors and competed in all 11 rounds. She tallied a 77.4 stroke average with a low round of 75. Zimmerman collected two top-20 finishes.

These three, along with senior Brooke Busse (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) and freshman Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain) will be competing in the NCAA East Super Regional on May 3-5.
