Six Men's Fencing Student-Athletes Receive All-Academic Recognition

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's fencing team had six GLIAC All-Academic honorees. This is the second year the conference recognized student-athletes from non-GLIAC sports.

Named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were senior David DeClark (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Birmingham Seaholm) and junior Dylan Boyle (Libertyville, Ill.).

DeClark (Finance) and Boyle (Mathematics) were All-Academic Excellence recipients for the second consecutive year.

Wayne State had four representatives on the All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49. The quartet consisted of sophomores Ahmed Elsayed (Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt), Quinlyn Morgan (Olathe, Kan. / Homeschooled), Skylar Pitcher (Middleville, Mich. / Thornapple Kellogg) and Jacob Pochmara (Waterford Twp., Mich. / Clarkston).

Elsayed (Mechanical Engineering), Morgan (Art), Pitcher (Kinesiology) and Pochmara (Biomedical Engineering) were honored in their first season eligible.

Wayne State shattered the previous mark of 206 Academic All-GLIAC honorees set in 2019-20 with 253 for the 2020-21 academic year. WSU has produced 1,694 Academic All-GLIAC recipients over the last decade.
