Wayne State Baseball Summer Update

DETROIT -- Several current and former Wayne State University baseball student-athletes are having successful summers.

In the pro ranks, Anthony Bass has pitched in 41 games, including one start, for the Miami Marlins. He has struck out 33 batters in 35 and a 1/3 innings and posted a 4.04 ERA. His next strikeout will be his 300th career K.

Hunter Brown, playing with the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros Double-A affiliate) has been impressive over his last seven outings. He has struck out 54 batters in 30 and a 1/3 innings and posted a 2.96 ERA. For the season he is 1-4 with a 4.61 ERA and 68 Ks over 41 innings. Brown has worked in 11 games and started 10 of those.

Jared Tobey is playing for the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers High-A affiliate) and is 0-1 with a 4.74 ERA in 26 games. He has struck out 37 batters in 24 and 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, while collecting two saves. On July 14, he combined with three other pitchers to toss a no-hitter vs. the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

Patrick Adams is also playing for the Lincoln Salt Dogs, which is a part of the American Association of Professional Baseball, an official Partner League of Major League Baseball.
