Women's Swim and Dive Collects Win at Calvin

The Warriors won 12 of the 13 events.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- With just under a week before the GLIAC Championships, the Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team went to Calvin and collected a 159-79 victory over the Knights.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
The Warriors kicked off the individual events with a first and second-place finish in the 1000 free. Megan Sieloff (Grand Blanc, Mich.) posted the first-place time of 10:53.15, while Amelia Plonis (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Eisenhower) was behind her with a time of 11:23.26.

Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) and Isidora Sekaric (Windsor, Ont. / W.F. Herman Academy) followed that up with a top two finish of their own in the 200 free. Brunner posted the winning time of 1:56.46, while Sekaric had a 1:58.05.

In the 50 free, Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) touched out in first, earing a time of 24.80. After that, Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) took first (2:11.58) in the 200 IM, while Hannah Gurecki (Macomb, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse North) placed third (2:15.96). Later in the meet, Koh collected a first-place finish in the 100 breast, posting a time of 1:02.62.

In diving, Mikaela Senkus (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Academy for International Studies) eared the top scores in the one-meter and three-meter events. She posted a score of 288.67 in the one-meter dive and earned a 296.47 in the three-meter.

Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) and Megan Elmquist (Davison, Mich.) took first and third, respectively, in the 100 fly. Tarlev touched out in 59.17, while Elmquist had a time of 1:01.91. One event later, Hailee Waters (Dexter, Mich.) and Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 free. Waters tallied a time of 54.88, while Fox touched out in 55.80.

In the 100 back, Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) finished first (58.90), while Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston) claimed third (1:01.01). The Warriors claimed the top two spots in the 500 free, with Ashleigh Allen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Clarkston) taking first (5:20.41) and Sieloff placing second (5:30.86).

RELAY RESULTS
The team of Chorley, Koh, Brunner and Tarlev started the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, notching a time of 1:47.15. Coming in third place (1:50.30) was the quartet of Fox, Gurecki, Munoz and Sabine Branford (Plymouth, Mich. / Salem).

To close the meet, WSU finished first and second in the 200 free relay. Brunner, Tarlev, Gurecki and Dice posted the winning time of 1:37.14, while Chorley, Waters, Sekaric and Julia Katulski (Novi, Mich.) touched out in 1:39.76.

UP NEXT
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday afternoon against Saginaw Valley State. The meet is set to being at 1 PM in University Center, Mich.
