Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Davenport

The Warriors won eight events.

DETROIT -- In its first home meet of the season, the Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team was able to defeat Davenport Friday night inside the Matthaei Natatorium. The Warriors won by a final score of 123-109.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) got things going with an impressive showing in the 1,000 free. She won the event with a time of 10:39.47. Megan Delaere (Rochester HIlls, Mich. / Rochester) was second, as she collected a time of 10:53.95.

Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) continued the Warriors' winning ways, as she won the 200 free with a time of 1:55.02. Following that, WSU saw Hailee Waters (Dexter, Mich.) and Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) finish first and second, respectively, in the 50 free. Waters had a time of 25.14, and Tarlev was right behind with a time of 25.15.

Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview) and Hasten Horling (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Northview) were strong in the 200 IM. Belmore finished first, recording a time of 2:09.40, while Horling was third with a time of 2:12.14. Later in the meet, Munoz and Megan Elmquist (Davison, Mich.) had strong showings in the 200 fly. Munoz won the event, registering a time of 2:08.44. Elmquist finished third, touching the wall in 2:17.91.

Wayne State dominated the 100 free, claiming the top three spots. Hannah Gurecki (Macomb, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse North) placed first with a time of 54.49, Waters touched out in second, recording a time of 54.54, and Isidora Sekaric (Windsor, Ont. / W.F. Herman Academy) claimed third, notching a time of 54.64.

In the 200 back, Fox, Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston) and Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) finished first, second and third, respectively. Fox had a time of 2:05.72, Dice registered a time of 2:10.39 and Chorley earned a time of 2:10.90.

Alli Vassilakos (Clarkston, Mich.) and Megan Sieloff (Grand Blanc, Mich.) each finished in the top three of the 500 free. Vassilakos was second with a time of 5:11.74, while Sieloff claimed third with a time of 5:20.56.

RELAY RESULTS
The quartet of Chorley, Horling, Munoz and Tarlev was the top team in the 400 medley relay. They posted a time of 3:58.96.

Wayne State will hit the pool again on Oct. 29 at Ashland. The meet will begin at 1 PM.
