Fencer Marouf Competes At Junior World Cup In Poland

Sosnowiec, Poland -- Wayne State University sophomore fencer Eyad Marouf (Alexandria, Egypt) competed on Saturday and Sunday at the 2022 Junior Sabre World Cup in Sosnowiec.

Marouf, the #34 seed, compiled a 4-2 record (+6 in touches / 25-19) during pool play, which included two 5-4 victories.

He was seeded 57th for the direct elimination portion of the competition.  Marouf defeated Lucas Wei Feng Tan of Singapore 15-11, before falling to Hungary's Zsadany Papp 15-11 in the round of 64 to finish 51st.

On Sunday, in the Junior Team Men's Sabre competition, Marouf competed in the Bronze Medal match winning 7-2 over Japan's Hayato Tsubo and 5-4 over Go Ishii despite Egypt falling 45-42 to finsih fourth as a team.
