Women's Basketball Seventh In First NCAA Regional Rankings

DETROIT -- The 15-6 Wayne State University women's basketball squad is ranked seventh in the Midwest Region in the first of three published regional rankings by the NCAA.

The Warriors are 1-2 against the top five teams in the rankings having lost at both Grand Valley State and Ashland, but earned a home court victory over Walsh back in November.

GVSU is ranked first and is followed by Ashland, Drury, Missouri-St. Louis, Walsh, Southern Indiana and WSU.  Trailing Wayne State are Saginaw Valley State, Northwood and Kentucky Wesleyan.  The Warriors split the season series with SVSU, while winning both match-ups against the Timberwolves.

WSU plays at Northern Michigan tonight and at Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon before returning to the Wayne State Fieldhouse for the final two regular-season games.  Wayne State hosts Grand Valley State on Feb. 24th and Davenport on Feb. 26th, which is both Senior Day and Hall of Fame day.
