WSU had four of the top seven swimmers in the 100 fly - Marina Tarlev (6th), Barbara Munoz (4th), Julia Brunner (2nd) and Evie Dice (7th).

Women's Swimming and Diving In First Halfway Through 2022 GLIAC Championships

WSU had four of the top seven swimmers in the 100 fly.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad kept its first-place standing after day two of the 2022 GLIAC Championships.  The Warriors totaled 202 points on Saturday after garnering 203.5 points on Friday.

TEAM STANDINGS
Wayne State leads with 405.5 points, while Northern Michigan is second with 394.5 points.  Grand Valley State is third with 367 points with Davenport (195) and host Saginaw Valley State (178) rounding out the field.

100 FLY
Senior Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) finished second with a "B" cut time of 55.79.  Sophomore Barbara Munoz (Yumbo, Colombia) placed fourth (56.63), while junior Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) was sixth (57.02), and freshman Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston) finished seventh (57.04).

With junior Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) placing 13th (58.54), WSU tallied 61 points in this event.

400 IM
Freshman Megan Elmquist (Davison, Mich.) and senior Ashleigh Allen (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Clarkston) combined for 24 points in team scoring as Elmquist was sixth (4:34.89), and Allen placed eighth (4:47.60).

Sophomore Juliana Witt (Macomb Twp., Mich. / Dakota) finished 12th (4:42.60), while junior Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed 16th (4:48.60) adding another six points to the team score.

200 FREE
Junior Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) improved her "B" cut time to 1:50.71 with her third-place finish.  Graduate student Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) and sophomore Isidora Sekaric (Windsor, Ont. / W.F. Herman Academy) finished fifth (1:52.44) and sixth (1:55.56), respectively with both swimmers also recording "B" cut times.

Freshman Hailee Waters (Dexter, Mich. / Dexter) finished 12th in a time of 1:54.72 giving the Warriors 48 points in the event.

THREE-METER DIVING
Sophomore Mikaela Senkus (Macomb, Mich. / Utica Academy for International Studies - Eisenhower) finished fourth (427.75), while junior Marissa Woida (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Wyandotte Roosevelt) placed fifth (405.60) after being seeded 11th.

400 MEDLEY RELAY
The WSU quartet of Chorley, Koh, Brunner and Fox took second place in a time of 3:46.45.

UP NEXT
The Sunday morning prelims will consist of the 500 free (Jordan Fox is the No. 1 seed), 100 back, 100 breast (Jia Yi Koh is the top seed), and 200 fly, with the 800 free relay being contested during the finals.
