UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team held onto second place during day three of the 2022 GLIAC Championships. The Warriors tallied 133 points on Sunday.
TEAM STANDINGS
Grand Valley State is in first place with 728 points, while WSU is second with 464 points. Northern Michigan is third with 430 points and is followed by St. Cloud State (316), Saginaw Valley State (286.5), Davenport (201), and Augustana [S.D.] (192.5).
500 FREE
Senior
Kyle Lovas (Shepherd, Mich. / Alma) finished eighth in a time of 4:39.70.
Junior
Casey Dolen (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Dexter) finished 13th in a time of 4:39.96. The duo earned 15 points for the Warriors.
100 BACK
Junior
Luka Cvetko (Varazdin, Croatia) placed 10th in a time of 50.68 to earn seven points for WSU.
100 BREAST
Freshman
Clayton Kinnard (Dexter, Mich.) finished fifth by clocking in at 55.58, and missing a "B" cut time by just .02. He garnered 14 points for Wayne State.
200 FLY
Freshman
Trevor Jones (Farmington, Mich.) notched a "B" cut time with his third-place finish in 1:50.01. Sophomore
Alex Capizzo (Fraser, Mich.) was fifth in 1:50.28.
Senior
Chris Westgate (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) finished 14th (1:54.67), while junior
Matt Vassilakos (Clarkston, Mich.) earned 15th place in a time of 1:56.41. The four Warriors tallied 35 points.
THREE-METER DIVING
Senior
Grant Porter (Haslett, Mich.) placed fourth with a score of 387.35, while sophomore
Jeffrey Cottingham, Jr. (Dearborn, Mich. / Edsel Ford) finished sixth with a score of 355.85.
800 FREE RELAY
The Warrior group of Kinnard, Lovas, Jones and Capizzo finished second in a time of 6:37.55.
UP NEXT
The Monday morning prelims will consist of the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, and timed final of the 1650 free, while the 400 free relay will take place during the evening finals.
