Fantastic Performances Highlight Women's Track at Bucknell Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Six members of the Wayne State University women's outdoor track and field squad competed on Friday at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. One NCAA Provisional mark was attained, while five of the six runners posted a top-10 time in school history.

In the 1500m race, freshman Emily Gordon (Northville, Mich.) posted the fifth-fastest mark in school history running a 4:47.28.

Junior Thailyia Christensen (Flushing, Mich.) ran a 11:14.97 in the Steeplechase, which was the third-fastest time in program history. Junior Katherine Ray (Novi, Mich.) was just a few seconds off her PR set earlier this month. Ray completed the event in 11:35.65.

Senior Ashley Defrain (Fort Gratiot, Mich. / Port Huron Northern) competed in the 5,000m Invitational section and recorded the eighth-best time in school history running a 17:39.22.

In the final competition for the Warriors, freshman Reagan Justice (Canton, Mich. / Salem) and junior Charlene Yarema (Romeo, Mich.) both posted top-10 times in program history. Justice clocked in at 36:18.28 which was an NCAA Provisional time and the fourth-fastest in WSU history. Yarema notched the sixth-fastest time running a 37:41.69.

Wayne State will be competing at Oakland University this Friday and Saturday in the OU Elaine Leigh Invite.
