Five Warriors Named to All-GLIAC Men's Golf Team

DETROIT -- Five members of the Wayne State University men's golf program earned All-GLIAC honors as announced by the league on Wednesday. Garret Day (Chatham, Ont.) and Sean Niles (Northville, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) were voted to the All-GLIAC First Team, while Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont.), Mat Hawryluk (Chatham, Ont.) and Matt Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.) were selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team.

Day played in 11 tournaments and finished with a stroke average of 73.9, He had one top five finish, three top 10 results and seven top 25 finishes. Day had a low round of 68 and five rounds under par.

Niles competed in 10 events and had an average round of 72.4, which was the best on the roster. He posted below par scores in 10 of his 25 rounds. Niles collected six top 10 results and seven top 25 finishes. He won the SVSU Spring Invitational, finished second at the Ohio Dominican Bill Blazer Memorial and was third at the Motor City Invitational. Niles had five rounds in the 60s, including a season low 68 on two occasions.

DiCarlo had six top 25 finishes and two top 10 results in his 11 tournaments. He posted a stroke average of 73.9 and collected six round sin the 60s, including a season-best 68. DiCarlo on the BrownGolf Intercollegiate.

Hawryluk played in 10 events with an average round of 74.2. He collected five top 25 finishes and two top 10 results. Hawryluk started the season at the GVSU Arendsen Invitational, where he tied-of-fifth. He tallied six rounds under par, including a season-low 68.

Pelak had a stroke average of 74.8 over 22 rounds and had three top 25 results plus a top 10 finishes. He tied-for-10th at the Tiffin Kyle Ryman Memorial. Pelak had three rounds under par, including a season-best 69.
