Women's Golf Has Strong Showing in Big Rapids

Freshman Sabel Imesch won the event with a 146 (72, 74)

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's golf team was impressive in 36 holes at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational hosted by Ferris State on Saturday. The Warriors finished third with a 622 (308, 314) in the 15-team field. The event was played at Katke Golf Course (Par 72 / 6.005 Yards.)

LEADING THE WAY
Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) took home medalist honors with a 146 (72, 74) in just her second collegiate tournament. The 36-hole total was one off the program record and recorded two birdies in the first round and three birdies during the second round. She held off Sydney Hugo from Walsh and Alayna Eldred of Ferris State who both posted 147s.

TEAM RESULTS
Saginaw Valley State won the team trophy by shooting a 612 (310, 302), finishing ahead of FSU (620) and WSU. Behind the Warriors were Tiffin (624) and another FSU team (627).

WSU RESULTS
Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) shot a 157 (75, 82) and tied-for-17th, while Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) carded a 158 (81, 77).

Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain) finished with a 161 (80, 81), while Natalie Groom (Orangevale, Calif. / El Camino Fundamental) notched a 171 (83, 88).

Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) competed unattached and shot a 174 (88, 86).
