Men's Golf Qualifies for NCAA Tournament's Midwest/Central Super Regional

The Warriors have played in 14 NCAA postseasons since 2004.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's golf program is heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time since 2004 as the fields for the four Super Regionals were announced on Friday evening. The Warriors will enter as the sixth seed in the Midwest Region.

The NCAA selects 10 teams from each of the eight regions to compete in the postseason in one of four "super regionals" where each region is paired with another to play in a 20-team field. The Midwest Region will be grouped with the Central Region and the 20 teams will play at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn. on May 11-13.

At the finals, all 20 teams and eight individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of stroke play, an individual champion will be declared along with finishers 2-10 based on cumulative total score and any applicable tiebreakers. The top eight teams after 54 holes of play will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on 54-hole scores.

The pairings for the quarterfinals will be Seed #1 versus Seed #8, Seed #2 versus Seed #7, Seed #3 versus Seed #6 and Seed #4 versus Seed #5, competing in head-to-head medal play (stroke play over 18 holes and low score wins).

Two individuals and a minimum of three teams from each regional will advance to the finals. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven.

The NCAA Championships will be hosted by the Mountain East Conference and Avalon Lakes at The Grand Resort in Warren, Ohio on May 22-26.
