EUREKA, Mo. -- The Wayne State University women's golf squad, one of two teams competing at the NCAA Championship finals that are unranked, earned a team score of 314 during the first round at
Fox Run Golf Club.
Of the top six teams for the opening 18 holes, there are the top-five nationally ranked squads plus 16th-ranked Cal State-East Bay. No. 3-ranked Nova Southeastern was the lone team below par at -4. The Sharks are followed by No. 4-Findlay (+4), No. 5-Anderson (+4), No. 2-Dallas Baptist (+7), No. 1-Lynn (+9) and CSU-East Bay (+9).
The Warriors are 18th in the 18 team field.
Junior
Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain) is tied-for-10th with an even-par 72. Her opening round included five birdies, two bogeys and one triple bogey.
Freshman
Maisarah Hezri (Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia) shot a +6 (78) on Tuesday. Hezri had seven bogeys, but birdied hole #17.
Classmate
Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) carded an 81 (+9). The rookie posted 12 pars, three bogeys and three double bogeys.
Senior
Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) had one birdie, seven bogeys, one double bogey and finished with a triple bogey for an 83 (+11).
Freshman
Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) had a +22 (94) round.
