Women's Basketball Picked to Finish Fifth in GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll

DETROIT -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released its annual Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday, October 21, with the Wayne State University women's hoops squad being tabbed to finish fifth.

The Warriors compiled a 20-12 record during the 2024-25 campaign and advanced to the NCAA regional semifinal.

Each of the 11 head coaches ranked the other 10 squads, with Grand Valley State earning 10 first-place votes and 100 points.  Northern Michigan was picked second, securing 87 points, while Ferris State was tabbed to finish third, receiving one first-place vote and 72 points.  Parkside (72) was the final squad picked to finish ahead of the Green and Gold, with WSU totaling 66 points.  Rounding the ranking is Michigan Tech (48), Saginaw Valley State (46), Roosevelt (43), Davenport (25), Lake Superior State (21), and Purdue Northwest (13).

The league office will release its Preseason Teams and Preseason Player of the Year on Tuesday, October 28.

Wayne State will begin its regular season on Friday, November 7, at Texas Woman's University as part of the DII CCA (Conference Commissioners Association) Tip-Off Classic hosted by TWU.
