MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The 13th-ranked Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team was at No. 10 Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday for its first dual meet of the 2025-26 season. In the end, the Warriors were defeated by the Wildcats after a final score of 239-61.
"The trip to NMU was definitely a great learning experience for our Warriors," said head coach
Sean Peters. "For the women, we are definitely a young team with strong potential. We definitely ran into a strong Wildcat team, as the score indicated, and our young squad definitely got to see how they fare against them, and while I see improvement, we still need to take that next step."
For the skins meet on Friday, it started with a 100 IM and the top four from each team went into a knockout 50 that was randomly drawn out of a hat. The number of competitors went from eight to six to four to two to one and a different stoke was picked for each round including 50 free, 50 breast, 50 back and 50 fly.

Next up on the schedule for Wayne State will be Oakland's Golden Grizzly Invite on Wednesday-Saturday, Dec. 3-6 in Rochester at the OU Aquatic Center. The Warriors and Grizzlies will be joined by Dartmouth and Grand Canyon.
