Four Women's Swimmers Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

Belmore, Branford, Dice and Muccioli recognized for work in the classroom.

DETROIT -- Four members of the 2024-25Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad were honored this afternoon with Academic All-District honors by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).

Recognized for their work both in the pool and in the classroom were graduate student Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston), senior Sabine Branford (Plymouth, Mich. / Salem) along with juniors Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview) and Diana Muccioli (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North).

Dice competed in all 10 of the team's swim meets this past season and 38 regular-season meets across four campaigns.  She garnered Third Team All-GLIAC honors as a member of the 200 medley relay team at the GLIAC Championships in February.  Dice advanced to the finals of three other events at GLIACs with results of 10th in the 100 back (58.14), 12th in the 200 back (2:09.10), and 14th in the 50 free (24.46).  In her collegiate career, she was a five-time All-GLIAC honoree (two Second Team and three Third Team).  Academically, Dice earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science in August of 2024 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Exercise & Sport Science.  She will receive her third GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honor (2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25) and is already a two-time recipient of the D2 Academic Achievement Award.  Dice has received CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition each of her first three seasons, including First Team honors in both 2023 and 2024.

Branford competed in the final nine meets and received four All-GLIAC honors in seven events competed in.  She was a Second Team All-GLIAC recipient as a member of the 400 free relay (second - 3:25.57).  In addition, Branford collected a trio of Third Team All-GLIAC awards in the 50 free (third - 23.60) and as a member of both the 200 medley relay (third - 1:43.32) and 200 free relay (third - 1:34.63).  She swam in 38 regular-season meets across four seasons and was a two-time All-American honoree (one Second Team and one Honorable Mention), while being a 12-time All-GLIAC recipient (two First Team, four Second Team, and six Third Team).  Branford is a Mechanical Engineering major, who was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) four times and the Coach's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.0-3.49) twice.  She received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honors twice (2022-23 and 2023-24) and was a recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award in those same two campaigns.

Belmore competed in all 10 of the team's swim meets this past season and collected Second Team All-American honors for the 13th-place performance in the 800 free relay.  At the GLIAC Championships in February, she registered a trio of All-GLIAC awards in seven events competed in.  Belmore garnered Second Team All-GLIAC honors as a member of the 800 free relay team (second - 7:27.61) and Third Team All-GLIAC honors in the 200 IM (third - 2:04.79) and as a member of the 200 medley relay (third - 1:43.32).  She is a two-time All-American (both Second Team/Honorable Mention) and a nine-time All-GLIAC honoree (five Second Team and four Third Team).  Belmore will earn her second GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition this spring.  The Exercise and Sport Science major has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) all five semesters, including three 4.0 terms.  She has received First Team CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades each of her first two seasons with the Green and Gold.

Muccioli competed in all 10 of the team's swim meets this past year and reached the finals of four events, with a best finish of sixth in the 1650 free (17:11.24).  She placed eighth in both the 1000 free (10:21.38) and 500 free (5:01.31) and finished 11th in the 400 IM (4:31.20).  A year ago, Muccioli received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American Second Team honors as well as being a 2023-24 recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.  She will be named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for a second straight season later this spring.  A Design major, Muccioli has garnered Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) status all five semesters at WSU.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.

Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 22, 2025 (women) and April 23, 2025 (men).

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
