Dice Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

DETROIT -- Wayne State University swimmer Evie Dice (Waterford, Mich. / Clarkston) has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Dice, who earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science in August of 2024, was pursuing a Master's Degree in Exercise and Sport Science during her fourth year at WSU.  She received Athletic Director's Honor Roll status (term GPA 3.5+) her first seven semesters, including five 4.0 terms.  Dice was a three-year GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team selection as well as a three-year CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American.  She will be a three-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient.

In the pool, Dice competed in 38 meets during her four years with the Green and Gold and was a five-time All-GLIAC honoree (two Second Team and three Third Team). She scored in 19 events at the GLIAC Championships in her four seasons.  Dice was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2023 (200 Free Relay).

Dice was a multi-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) serving as a member of the Athlete Well-Being Committee during the 2023-24 academic year and served as Co-President during the 2024-25 academic year.

QUOTING EVIE DICE:
"I loved being an NCAA Student-Athlete for the past four years and am so grateful for all the opportunities being a student-athlete at Wayne State.  WSU has an environment where athletes are given the tools to expand and become involved in the department and city.  I'm excited to take what I've learned at Wayne State and continue my education at Grand Valley State University this fall, where I will be starting the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MOST) hybrid program.

NCAA Release

The NCAA has awarded $10,000 to 42 exceptional student-athletes as part of its Postgraduate Scholarship program.  These student-athletes, representing winter sports across all three NCAA divisions, have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, athletic excellence and leadership within their communities.

Each year, the NCAA awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition.  The scholarships are distributed three times annually — in the fall, winter and spring — providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season.  The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship intended to support graduate study at an accredited institution.

Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association's most accomplished student-athletes.  The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership.  An equitable selection process ensures that all nominees, regardless of sport, division, gender or race, are considered fairly.
