DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team is the No. 3-ranked team in the newest installment of the NCAA Midwest Regional Poll as announced on Wednesday. WSU is one of five squads from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to receive a ranking.
From the GLIAC, the Green and Gold is joined by Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University, Purdue University Northwest, and Davenport University.
The Midwest Region is compiled of teams from the GLIAC, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The winner of each conference's tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Midwest Regionals, while five more teams will garner at-large bids into the tournament. A total of 48 teams across the eight regions will be in the NCAA Tournament.

ITA RANKINGS UPDATE
On Wednesday morning, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) posted its newest polls, with the WSU men's tennis squad appearing as the No. 20-ranked team in the nation. In singles play,
Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany / Altkönigschule Kronberg) is the No. 49-ranked player. The duo of Drenth and
George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) are ranked 31st in doubles competition.
