Men's Golf Concludes First Day Of NCAA Regionals

COUNTRY CLUB, Mo. -- The Wayne State University men's golf team is in 14th place out of 20 teams after the opening day of the 2025 Midwest/Central Super Regional being held at St. Joseph Country Club. The Warriors had a 301 team score.

Central Oklahoma shot a four-under par 280 to lead the field by 10 strokes. Rounding out the top 11 were:

Findlay is 12th (+14) and is followed by Ferris State (+16), WAYNE STATE (+17), Ohio Dominican (+19), Winona State (+20), Henderson State (+22), Ashland (+22), Arkansas-Fort Smith (+23) and Washburn (+28).

Graduate student Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont.) and redshirt senior Ian Smith (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) both shot three-over pars 74. DiCarlo had four birdies, seven bogeys and seven pars, while Smith had two birdies, five bogeys and 11 pars.

Graduate student Luc Warnock (McGregor, Ont.) shot a +5 (76), while senior Tyler Hurtubise (Essex, Ont.) had a +6 (77). Senior Max Leppelmeier (Wauseon, Ohio / Pettisville) had a +7 (78). Warnock's card included two birdies, seven bogeys, and nine pars. Hurtubise garnered two birdies, six bogeys, one double bogey, and nine pars. Meanwhile, Leppelmeier totaled one birdie, eight bogeys, and nine pars.

All 20 teams will play another 18 holes on Friday, along with a final round 18 holes on Saturday. The top four teams after 54 holes will advance to the national championship finals.
