DETROIT -- With just over two weeks until the season opener, this position preview for the 2025 Wayne State University football team features the tight ends coached by
Mustafa Khaleefah.
After losing First Team All-GLIAC tight end
John Rayba to graduation, the Warriors have just one returnee at tight end, along with one transfer and three freshmen.
Redshirt junior
Nick Ostas (Blissfield, Mich.) has appeared in all 22 games over the last two seasons, making eight starts. He had four receptions in the first three games of 2024.
Graduate transfer
Blake Nelson (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) has been on the roster at Louisville (2021), Texas A&M-Commerce (now called East Texas A&M) in 2022, and Toledo (2023 and 2024), but is looking to make his collegiate debut this fall.
The trio of freshmen include
Brock Carpenter (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest),
Marquis Meadows (Detroit, Mich. / River Rouge), and
Brody Videto (Parma, Mich. / Western).
