COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Playing its first tournament of the 2025-26 season, the Wayne State University women's golf team placed seventh out of 15 squads at Ohio Dominican's Champions of Women's Golf Classic on Sunday. The Warriors shot a 317 (+37) in both rounds for a total of 634, 74 over par and just six strokes outside the top five.
Individually,
Claudia Portillo (Madrid, Spain / IES Ortega y Gassett) secured the fourth top-five finish of her career with a second-place showing at +8, only two shots behind the leader. Portillo carded that 148 with a 75 on Saturday and a 73 for round two. In 11 career events, the sophomore has been among the top 10 for seven of them.
