Men's Golf Tied-for-Fourth After One of Three Rounds at Folds of Honor Challenge

Wayne State finds itself just four strokes outside of the runner-up position.

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Through one of three rounds at the Folds of Honor Challenge, the Wayne State University men's golf team is tied-for-fourth in the 11-team field with a 12-over 296.  The Warriors are only four strokes outside of the runner-up position while the host Grand Valley State is atop the leaderboard after a one-under 283.

"The Warriors battled through tough windy conditions and a golf course that firmed up quite a bit throughout the last 24 hours," said head coach Mike Horn.  "We did not have our best stuff today, but found a way to keep grinding and we are very excited to be in fourth place after not our best effort.  We're hoping to make significant movement tomorrow and looking forward to getting out on the course early tomorrow morning with fresh greens and lower winds.  Hats off to all the guys that grinded it out with a 74 today."

Individually, four of the five Warriors competing are among the 12-way tie-for-15th at three over par (74).  They are Will Pollack (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern), Josh Lahner (Roselle, Ill. / Lake Park), Troy Chapman (Lexington, Ohio) and Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.).  Below that Green and Gold quartet in the 62-man competition is Jack Julian (South Lyon, Mich.) in a tie-for-54th at 11 over (82).
