Cross Country to Compete at Lucian Rosa Invite

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, September 27, for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Lucian Rosa Invite. The women's squad will compete first at 10:30 AM, followed by the men at 11:15 AM.

LAST TIME OUT
WSU last raced at its home meet, the Warrior Challenge, on Friday, September 12. The men's squad earned a team victory at the event, tallying 35 points. The Warriors nabbed three of the top-six positions as Glen Davis (Burtchville, Mich. / Port Huron Northern [SC4/Spring Arbor]) finished first, Sean Pettis (Fremont, Mich.) claimed fifth, and Jared Platt (White Lake, Mich. / White Lake Lakeland) earned sixth. On the women's side, the team placed second with 45 points. The Green and Gold's top finishers were Ava Peters (Livonia, Mich. / Franklin), Anna Gdowski (Northville, Mich.), and Aubrey Migoski (Wyandotte, Mich. / Roosevelt), who crossed the finish line second, sixth, and 11th respectively.

RACE OUTLOOK
Six Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams will be joining Wayne State this weekend, as Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, Roosevelt, Saginaw Valley State, and host Parkside will be competing. The meet will be held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, with the women's race being a 6K and the men's being an 8K.

USTFCCCA RANKINGS UPDATE
The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its latest Regional Rankings, with both the men's and women's teams appearing. The men are viewed as the No. 10-ranked squad in the Midwest, while the women are eighth in the region.
