Women's Swim & Dive Falls to Sixth-Ranked Grand Valley State

Wayne State stood atop the podium for three events in the 2025-26 home opener.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team (receiving votes in CSCAA top 25) hosted its first dual meet of the 2025-26 season by welcoming sixth-ranked Grand Valley State to Matthaei Natatorium.  However, the Warriors fell to the Lakers by a margin of 219-81 on Saturday afternoon.

"Today winds down the winter training segment of our season, and by welcoming the GVSU Lakers was a great test for our student-athletes, said head coach Sean Peters.  We competed hard and definitely enjoyed the many, many challenges that they gave us.  Overall, the Warriors gave it their best, and that's all I can ask for after everything they poured into their training and the competitions.  Looking forward to the next tests we face in the winter semester!"

WARRIOR WINS
200 fly - 2:14.71 - Danika Fessenden (Cedar Springs, Mich. / Grand Rapids Northview)

100 fly - 1:00.16 - Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview)

Three-meter diving - 266.03 - Alicia Viaches (East Lansing, Mich. / Haslett)
