Brengman Collects Second Career GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Reagan Brengman named conference Defensive Player of the Week.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's soccer redshirt senior captain Reagan Brengman (Harrison Township, Mich. / Warren Regina [Northwood]) has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week following the Warriors 2-0 weekend against Parkside and Roosevelt.  The pair of road victories moved Wayne State into a tie for first place in the conference standings.  The honor marks Brengman's second GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition this season.

Brengman anchored a strong Warrior back line that recorded back-to-back shutouts, holding both opponents scoreless.  Parkside managed nine total shots, including four on goal, while Roosevelt recorded just six shots, with one on target.  She logged 170 minutes across the two contests and contributed to the game-winning goals in both victories.  In WSU's 1-0 win at Parkside, Brengman assisted on Sabrina Gaul's (Troy, Mich.) game-winning goal with a free kick from midfield.  During the Warriors 3-0 victory at Roosevelt, Brengman helped set up the opening goal in the 39th minute, heading a goal kick to Olivia Jasniewicz (Troy, Mich.), who found the back of the net.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG STEINARD
"Reagan led us to a great weekend.  She and all of her teammates earned two shutouts on the road.  She played her part offensively as well, providing the game-winning assist on Sabrina's first collegiate goal!"
