Women’s Soccer Remains on the Road for Sunday Rematch at Davenport

Still unbeaten, the Warriors face Davenport again Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Farmers Athletic Complex.

DETROIT-- The Wayne State University women's soccer program (7-0-2 overall, 3-0-2 GLIAC) will return to action Sunday at 3 p.m. against Davenport at the Farmers Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Mich.  The Panthers enter Sunday's rematch with a 4-3-3 overall record and a 2-3-1 GLIAC mark.

Sunday's contest will mark the second meeting between the Warriors and Panthers this season, as Wayne State recorded a 3-0 victory on Sept. 20 at the WSU Soccer Complex.  Junior Jess Clyde (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Huron [Schoolcraft C.C.]) scored 58 seconds into the match, while graduate student Mairin Wessner (Northville, Mich. [Dayton]) and sophomore Jenna Moeller (Center Line, Mich. / Warren Regina [Siena Heights]) added second-half goals.  Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Helfen (Troy, Mich. [Cincinnati]) made four saves to record the shutout.

QUOTING COACH STEINARD
"Playing a team a second time is always difficult.  Davenport is well coached and organized, and going on the road will only make it harder.  Since it's our only game of the weekend, we can put all of our focus into them."

In goal, Helfen (6-0-2) has played 720 minutes across eight matches, allowing six goals while making 23 saves.
