Women's Hoops Heads to Roosevelt and Parkside for Last Road Trip of Regular Season

GAME STORYLINES
Wayne State will hit the road for the final time in the 2025-26 regular season, to play Roosevelt University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.  WSU will conclude the regular season with home games against Lake Superior State (Feb. 26) and Saginaw Valley State (Feb. 28).

SERIES HISTORY
WSU has faced the Lakers three times, winning both contests at home but losing the only meeting on the road.  Last year, in Chicago, the Green and Gold fell 66-62 despite a career-high 29 points from Shea Tripp.  Wayne State's shooting woes (1-of-13 from deep) contributed to the loss.

The Warriors topped Roosevelt 78-50 in the meeting earlier this season, behind 25 points and 10 rebounds from Gabi Lutchka.

The Green and Gold holds a 12-10 advantage over Parkside, including wins in the last three meetings between the squads.  All-time WSU is 4-4 in Kenosha, Wis.

Wayne State won a 95-88 high-scoring affair earlier this year in Detroit that saw nine different lead changes.  Lutchka tallied a personal-best 32 points in the win.

SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Roosevelt has posted a 7-16 ledger this year, including a 6-10 mark in the GLIAC.  The Lakers nabbed a 64-52 win at Davenport in the squad's last time out, with four players scoring in double digits.

Leading the way for RU is Marie Outlay.  The three-time GLIAC Player of the Week is averaging a team-leading 12.9 points per game, alongside 6.9 rebounds per game, while totaling a squad-high 99 steals.  Kelly Boyle is contributing 12.2 PPG and a team-high 68 assists.  Isabella Pitta averages 10.7 PPG with a squad-high 8.6 RPG.

Fourth-year head coach Deon Thomas has posted a 47-59 ledger and helped the Lakers to a GLIAC Tournament appearance a year ago.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Ahead of its meeting with Purdue Northwest, Parkside has tallied a 12-12 ledger, including a 7-9 record in the conference.

Cassidy Arni and Katie Hamill are both averaging 14.0 points per game.  They each contribute on the defensive end, with Arni blocking 20 shots (tied for a team high) and Hamill totaling 44 steals (squad best).  Lillie Peterson has hauled in a team-leading 183 rebounds.

Jen Conely is in year eight with UWP, helping the team to a 118-98 record with appearances in the GLIAC tournament all seven seasons prior to this year.

TOP-RANKED MATCH-UPS
The 78-77 win against Grand Valley State (2/9/2026) marked the first win over a No. 1 ranked team in program history after previously being 0-10.

TRAVELING THE COUNTRY
This week, the Warriors will head to their fifth and sixth states played in the campaign, as the squad is headed to Illinois and Wisconsin.  Already this season, WSU has competed in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas.

MILESTONE WATCH
Junior guard McKenna Ferguson became the 21st player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, doing so with a triple in the first quarter of the 68-67 win over Michigan Tech (2/14/2026).

Senior forward Taylor Thompson needs 35 points to reach 1,000 in her career.

Senior forward Gabi Lutchka is 60 points shy of 1,000.

LOHR REACHES 400

After playing in 14 games as a freshman and 17 as a sophomore, Emily Homan has seen an uptick in action during her junior campaign.  The Haslett, Mich., native is playing just under 15 minutes per game, while passing her rebound total from a year ago with 60 thus far, and has surpassed her total number of points from last year with 76.

At #1-Grand Valley State on Jan. 8, Homan notched then career highs in points (15), rebounds (six), and steals (four).
