DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's basketball forward
Gabi Lutchka (Grass Lake, Mich.) has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year, as announced by the league office.
The graduate student earns the honor after contributing a game-high 20 points (7-of-13 FG, 3-of-7 3PT, 3-of-3 FT), eight rebounds (three offensive), and a game-best five assists during a 98-61 win over Lake Superior State. During the LSSU contest, Lutchka splashed a buzzer-beating jumper before halftime to become the 22nd player in program history to score 1,000 points. In the 94-78 win over Saginaw Valley State, Lutchka once again led all scorers with 26 points (10-of-13 FG, 6-of-7 3PT), while grabbing seven boards and dishing out one assist. In the two wins, she totaled 46 points on 17-of-26 (65 percent) from the field, and 9-of-14 (64 percent) from beyond the arc, while making all three foul shot attempts.
The women's basketball team will return to the floor on Wednesday, March 4, to host Roosevelt University in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals at 5:30 PM in the WSU Fieldhouse.
