Fencing Squads Add Two Newcomers Each

DETROIT -- Third-year head men's and women's fencing coach Andy Tulleners has announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2026-27 academic year.  Two each for the men's squad and women's team.

Joining the men's team are foilist Dominick VanOyen (Dexter, Mich. / Plymouth/Ann Arbor Fencing Academy) and epeeist Logan Williams (Skokie, Ill. / Fencing Center of Chicago).  Beginning their Warrior careers this fall for the women's squad will be sabreist London Waller (Wyoming, Ohio / Salle Du Lion Fencing Center) and sabreist Noelle Zoller (Littleton, Colo. / Fencing Academy of Denver).

Dominick VanOyen, Foil, 6-2, 165, Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline
High School:  Will be a 2026 graduate of Ann Arbor Skyline High School ... competes for coach Tony Kosla at the Plymouth/Ann Arbor Fencing Academy ... placed ninth out of 35 competitors in the Division 1-A men's foil at the 2025 GRAFA Third Coast Cup, after finishing 18th of 64 participants in the junior men's foil at the 2025 Remenyik Open ... placed fifth out of 32 at the May 2025 Fairfax Challenge in the junior men's foil ... was the runner-up (out of 53 participants) at the 2024 GRAFA Third Coast Cup in the Division II Men's Foil with a 9-2 record (5-1 in pool play plus four straight victories to reach the finals) ... finished sixth out of 79 competitors in the junior men's foil at the 2024 Remenyik Open ... won the cadet men's foil at the 2024 Remenyik Open, after placing third out of 52 participants at the 2024 Motor City event in Waterford, Mich.

Personal:  Full name -- Dominick VanOyen ... born on January 18, 2008, in Ann Arbor, Mich. ... son of John and Natalie VanOyen ... has two older brothers, Anthony and Pierce ... Anthony is a tennis player at the College of Wooster ... plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Coach Tulleners on Dominick VanOyen:  "Dominick will be a great addition to our men's foil squad.  He is coming from Plymouth/Ann Arbor Fencing Academy and has trained under former Tartar Head Coach and NCAA Champion Gil Pezza.  Dominick will bring great energy to the team.  His positive energy and openness to coaching will continue to strengthen our men's foil roster."

Logan Williams, Epee, 6-0, 154, Skokie, Ill. / Aeon (Homeschooled)
High School:
 Will be a 2026 graduate of Aeon School (Homeschooled) ... spent one year at Loyola Academy ... competes for the Fencing Center of Chicago ... finished third out of 26 competitors at the 2026 Ataba Fencing Club Challenge in the senior mixed epee ... was the runner-up at the 2025 Midwest ROC/RJCC junior men's epee out of 31 participants ... placed third out of 31 competitors in the junior men's epee at the 2025 GRAFA RYC/RJCC/ROC Third Coast Cup ... finished sixth out of 24 participants at the Sept. 2025 Windy City Fencing Open in the senior mixed epee ... placed second in the senior mixed epee at the June 2025 Ataba Fencing Club Challenge ... finished fifth out of 41 participants in the junior men's epee at the Third Coast Cup held in March of 2025. 

Personal:  Full name -- Logan Williams ... born on January 29, 2008, in Chicago ... son of Jordan and Sebrina Williams ... has one sister, Kendall ... plans to major in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Coach Tulleners on Logan Williams:  "We are very pleased to have Logan join the Warriors next season.  He comes to us after training at the Fencing Center of Chicago under coach Bakhyt Abdikulov.  Logan is very coachable and open to feedback.  He has demonstrated the ability to adapt and apply coaching feedback well during events and will be a great addition to our men's epee."

London Waller, Sabre, 5-6, Wyoming, Ohio / Wyoming
High School:  Will be a 2026 graduate of Wyoming High School ... has earned Academic Honor Roll recognition ... took first place at the 2026 WSU Danosi Open in the senior women's sabre ... placed fifth out of 19 participants at the 2026 Denison Winter Open in the women's sabre ... finished in third place in both the Division 1-A and junior women's sabre at the GRAFA Third Coast Cup in November of 2025 ... placed third at the 2025 Escrime d'Halloween RYC/RJCC in the junior women's sabre ... finished third out of 22 competitors at the October 2025 Ohio State Open in the senior women's sabre ... placed 40th at the 2025 Summer Nationals in the Division 1-A women's sabre .. finished 32nd out of 108 participants at the January 2025 North American Cup in the Cadet women's sabre.

Personal:  Full name -- London M. Waller ... born on September 25, 2008, in Wyoming, Ohio ... daughter of Shaifq Waller and Casandra Strudwick ... has a younger brother, Reid ... plans to major in Global Supply Chain Management.

Coach Tulleners on London Waller:  "London comes from Salle Du Lion in Cincinnati, training under coach Ryan Howell.  London has a quiet focus and intensity.  Her openness to coaching blends well with our women's sabre team.  London has demonstrated great adaptability on the strip and an ability to adjust to her opponents."

Noelle Zoller, Sabre, 5-6, Littleton, Colo. / Heritage
High School:  Will be a 2026 graduate of Heritage High School ... competed for the 2024 USA Cadet National Team in Budapest, Hungary ... ranked 83rd nationally in the Senior with a 61st Junior ranking ... placed 30th (out of 237 competitors) at the October 2025 North American Cup Juniors ... won three straight direct elimination bouts after compiling a 3-3 record in pools ... finished third (out of 240 participants) at the 2025 Junior Olympics in the Cadet Division after winning six consecutive direct elimination bouts ... placed 18th (out of 281 competitors) in the Junior Division at the 2024 July Challenge, while finishing 16th (out of 247 participants) in the Junior Division at the 2024 Junior Olympics ... competes for the Fencing Academy of Denver.

Coach Tulleners on Noelle Zoller:  "Noelle hails from the Fencing Academy of Denver and has trained under Norbert Jaskot.  Noelle will join our women's sabre team after demonstrating strong leadership, excellent academic strength and a great ability to applying coaching feedback while on the strip and adapt to opponents in the moment."

The Wayne State University women's fencing squad placed 13th at the NCAA Championships earlier this month in South Bend, Ind. (hosted by the University of Notre Dame) with the maximum two qualifiers each in the epee and foil.
