DETROIT -- Third-year head men's and women's fencing coach
Andy Tulleners has announced the signing of four additional student-athletes for the 2026-27 academic year. Two each for the men's squad and women's team. This quartet joins the
previous foursome announced in March.
The newest members of the Warrior fencing program are Itzel Alsina (Coamo, Puerto Rico) in men's sabre, Tyler Peckens (Lake Orion, Mich.) in men's epee, June Campbell (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) in women's foil, and Hafsa Marzouk (Chicago, Ill.) in women's epee.
Itzel Alsina, Sabre, 5-7, 162, Coamo, Puerto Rico
High School: A 2026 graduate of Eugenio Guerra Cruz, a sports community school in Salinas ... competed for coach Roberto Figueredo Brea ... participated in the 2025 Trick or Retreat RJCC in the junior men's sabre and went 3-3 in pools and won his first direct elimination bout, 15-6, over Stephen Sun, before falling 15-14 to Henry Ciemins ... lost a close 5-4 bout to Neiyam Sadhu in pools ... competed at the 2024 Pan American U20 men's sabre championships, where he finished 34th as the youngest competitor ... had a 1-4 mark with a win over Dario Massa of Peru, before falling to Colombia's Gabriel Santiago Santamaria Trujillo in the first round of direct elimination ... placed 23rd at the 2025 Pan American junior championships ... compiled a 3-2 record (+6) in pools, and received a first round bye in direct elimination ... fell to Mexico's Elliot Barreto in the table of 32.
