WSU Student-Athletes Continue To Impress In The Classroom

85 Student-Athletes had a perfect 4.0 term GPA.

DETROIT -- The student athletes at Wayne State University continue to excel in the classroom.  A school record of eighty-five (85) student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.00 term GPA with nearly 80 percent of Warrior student-athletes receiving at least a 3.00 for the Winter 2026 semester.  The entire student-athlete population posted a 3.40 term GPA, with a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes at 3.493.  Over 83 percent of the student-athletes at the conclusion of the Winter term have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, while over 58 percent have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

Men's tennis led the way with a 3.868 term GPA as four of the nine team members had a semester GPA of 4.0.  Other teams that had a stellar semester were women's soccer (3.781), softball (3.777), women's fencing (3.766), women's swimming/diving (3.747), volleyball (3.687), women's cross country (3.674), women's golf (3.645), women's track and field (3.609), baseball (3.607), men's cross country (3.554), and women's basketball (3.532).  Fifteen (15) of the 18 teams had a term GPA of at least 3.445.

"Our student athletes continue to raise the standard academically," said WSU Director of Athletics Erika Wallace.  "These results are a reflection of a culture built on accountability, support, and a shared belief in what our student athletes are capable of achieving.  I'm proud of the intentional work being done every day by our student-athletes, coaches, and Student Support Services staff to create an environment where success is expected and growth is continuous."
