Women's Basketball Inks Three High School Student Athletes

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball program, under the direction of 16th-year head coach Carrie Lohr, has inked three high school student athletes to join the Warriors this fall.  Coming to Motown are guards Olivia Miller (Avon Lake, Ohio), Keira Roehm (Saline, Mich.) and Averie Zinn (Genesee, Mich.).

"Our 2026 recruiting class of Averie, Keira and Olivia all represent our core values at Wayne State University Athletics:  academic success, community engagement, and athletic excellence within NCAA Division II standards," commented Lohr.  "They come from incredible families and reflect the type of person and player we want in our program.  We are thrilled to welcome Averie, Keira, Olivia and their families to Wayne State University Women's Basketball."

Olivia Miller, G, 5-10, Avon Lake, Ohio / Avon Lake
High School:  Will be a 2026 graduate of Avon Lake High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for coach Paul Appel ... helped the Shoregals to the Division 3 state championship game as a junior ... averaged 10 points, six rebounds, three blocks and 1.7 assists per game in 2024-25, then 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game as a senior ... selected Lorain County Miss Basketball by the Lorain County Girls Basketball Coaches Association ... garnered First Team All-Southwestern Conference and First Team All-Northeast Lakes District honors in 2026 ... named Special Mention All-Ohio for Division III as a junior ... scored a game-high 16 points in the 2025 state semifinal win over Brush ... served as a team captain as a senior ... also played softball for ALHS and earned All-County and All-District accolades ... received Merit Roll and Honor Roll academic recognition ... helped her 2023 summer team to the National Gold Championship.

The WSU women's basketball team has compiled a 44-20 overall record during the last two seasons and reached the NCAA Regional Semifinals both seasons.  The Warriors lost six seniors to graduation in Karrington Gordon, Gabi Lutchka, Taylor Thompson, Jaci Tubergen, Mackenzie Miller and Ashley Bower.
