DETROIT -- Wayne State University senior defender and team captain Reagan Brengman (Harrison Township, Mich. / Warren Regina [Northwood]) was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.  The program's first such honor comes after the Warriors began their inaugural season with a pair of shutout victories, both of which were on the road.

"We are super proud of Reagan for getting our first ever GLIAC player of the week," said WSU head coach Doug Steinard.  "She lead our team to two shutouts playing 90 minutes in both games.  Her and her teammates were fantastic in both games.  Reagan has shown maturity and leadership since my first phone call with her and brings tons of experience to help us start this program.  She shows servant leadership on and off the field as well as being a great teammate and supports everyone and is respectful."

Brengman started and played all 180 minutes in the two road matches, a 2-0 win at her previous school Northwood on Thursday, followed by a 1-0 triumph at Division I Detroit Mercy on Sunday.  The veteran member of WSU's back line anchored a defensive unit that not only didn't surrender a single goal, but allowed just five shots on goal amongst 11 total shot attempts in those four halves.

Brengman and her teammates will play the first home match in program history on Friday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the WSU Soccer Complex.  Wayne State will take on Ohio Dominican, a team that comes in 1-0 thanks to a 2-1 come-from-behind defeat of UIndy on Saturday on the Panthers' field.
