TOM ADAMS FIELD
The Wayne State University football field was renamed the Tom Adams Field on October 11, 2003. An artificial playing surface was installed in the summer of 2006 following the renovating of the locker room and coaches offices in the summer of 2004. Lights were installed in August of 2012. Thomas B. Adams, a former football and track star at Wayne State University as well as being an outstanding contributor not only to the university but to the entire city of Detroit following his graduation from Wayne in 1944, was inducted into the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1979. Adams lettered in football in 1938-39-40 and in track during the 39-40-41 seasons. He led the Wayne football team in scoring during the 1940 season. In 1939 Adams won the Canadian Indoor Sprint Championship and was a member of the 880 Relay team that won the Notre Dame Relays in 1938.
MATTHAEI CENTER
Construction began in 1965 as part of Detroit’s bid to host the 1968 summer Olympics.  The effort was spearheaded by Frederick Matthaei, a native of Detroit, who graduated from Michigan.  The Matthaei houses the natatorium, three basketball courts as well as offices for both athletics and kinesiology, classrooms, a dance studio, the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame, and two weight rooms (one for classes and one for WSU student-athletes).  Parquet flooring was added in the summer of 2004. New bleachers were installed in July 2011 following the addition of chairback seats behind both the home and visitors bench area.
MATTHAEI CENTER NATATORIUM
The WSU pool area, located within the Matthaei, has hosted NCAA national championships, as well as Warrior home meets along with high school meets including the Detroit Public School League championship.  The natatorium includes a diving well separate from the eight lane main swimming pool area.  A renovated area for fans including chairback seating was installed prior to hosting the 2010 conference championship.  The pool area also features two very large records boards along with a color timing board.
HARWELL FIELD
In 2003, a replica Fenway Park wall was installed around the perimeter of the outfield.  New bullpens were installed in right field, as was a new scoreboard attached to the marquee which overlooks the M-10 freeway.  Construction on two new in-ground Major League-style dugouts was completed in October 2008.  In late 2009, WSU received the Tiger Stadium left-field scoreboard on loan from the Detroit Historical Museum and had it mounted on the Green Monster wall in left. On June 6, 2013, WSU announced plans for the Harwell Field which will include grandstands, a press box and a museum with artifacts from the Harwell Foundation.
WSU SOFTBALL COMPLEX
Softball was established at WSU in 1975.  Grandstands and a pressbox was added in 2004, while phase 1 which included a locker room, coaches offices, a training room and a renovated dugout was completed in the spring of 2012.  Phase 2 was completed in Winter 2013 and consists of indoor pitching lanes and batting cages adjacent to the home third base dugout.
WSU TENNIS COMPLEX
The outdoor tennis courts were completely resurfaced in 2007 and patched in 2012.  See Multipurpose Indoor Facility for more information on the indoor tennis courts.
LOWELL BLANCHARD TRACK
Lowell Blanchard Track surrounds Adams Field and was dedicated in the Fall of 2006. The field event areas are in the final stages of completion. The “throws” area will be behind the outfield fence at the softball stadium while the “jumps” area will be behind the visiting stands at the football field.
DETROIT GOLF CLUB
The Detroit Golf Club features two 18-hole courses designed by Donald Ross, are considered by top golfers among the finest in this part of the country. The minute you put foot on the North Course, you know it's a championship course. The South 18 plays a bit easier, but not much. Both courses offer fairways reminiscent of deep-pile carpeting. Greens are lush, close-clipped, true-rolling. Well-designated traps have been strategically placed by course experts.

FUTURE PROJECTS
Harwell Museum
HARWELL FIELD
Announced on June 6, 2013, the Ernie and Lulu Harwell Field Project is in Phase I to build a press box, atrium, museum space and seating in honor of the longtime Detroit Tiger broadcaster and his wife. The building will resemble the original Ebbets Field so chosen because it was Mr. Harwell’s first MLB position and the street adjacent to the field is Brooklyn Avenue. A statue to the Harwells will welcome visitors into the commemorative walkway and exterior grounds.
BASKETBALL OFFICE EXPANSION
Extending off the north side of the Matthaei, the 2,600 square foot building will have six offices (one for each coach), an entrance lobby and film room. Currently, none of the above exist other than “make-shift” accommodations.
TRACK INFRASTRUCTURE
The newly formed women’s track & field team will enjoy the addition of field events for participation and practice – throws cage, pole vault, long & triple jump and steeplechase. The Mondo-surfaced additions all newly installed should be available in August of 2013. The objective is to work with the Detroit Sports Commission and bring the regional AAU Track Championships to WSU.
