Senior Taylor Vane helped the men's tennis program clinch its first GLIAC regular-season title since 1981 this past week with wins over Michigan Tech (7-0) and Lake Superior State (7-0). On Saturday vs. MTU at No. 1 doubles, 24th-ranked senior partners Griffin Mertz and Vane won their match 6-4 vs. Mario Neto and Siddhesh Mahadeshwar. He then was first off the courts after nearly sweeping his No. 1 singles opponent (6-0, 6-1).
At the first flight of doubles on Sunday, Mertz and Vane pulled out a tiebreaker after being down by one and serving at match point, 7-6 (8-6). Â Vane triumphed at No. 3 singles, winning in straight sets (6-4, 6-0).
