Women's Swimming In Fifth After First Day Of NCAAs

Warrior claim national title in 200 medley relay

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -
The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team is in fifth place after the first day of the NCAA Championships at Palo Alto Natatorium.

The Warriors came away Wednesday with a national championship in the 200 medley relay (1:40.78). Sara Franklin, Ana Gonzalez Pena, Carol Azambuja and Ashley Corriveau broke WSU's NCAA meet record of 1:41.46 set last year (see video below from NCAA.com).

Catherine Leix placed seventh in the 1000 freestyle (10:13.98) and Azambuja finished 15th in the 200 individual medley (2:05.78).
