Kaiser Competes In North American Fencing Cup


Virginia Beach, Va. -- Hans Kaiser (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson), a sophomore on the WSU men's fencing team, participated in the junior foil portion of the 2012 North American Cup today.

He began the competition seeded 61st out of 161 foilists.  Kaiser compiled a 4-2 record (+7 in touches) to finish second in his pool.  The strong performance earned him the No. 47 seed for the direct elimination portion.

In the table of 128, Kaiser out-scored Ian Kanar 15-13, to advance to the round of 64 where he was edged 15-14 by the 18th seeded-George Haglund.

Kaiser finished 45th, while Haglund an A12 finished 23rd.

Kaiser and Quentin Schneider will compete on Monday in the Division I men's foil.
