Hans Kaiser (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) and
Quentin Schneider (Gonesse, France) competed today on the final day of the North American Cup.
Kaiser (B12) was seeded 65th and compiled a 2-4 record (-7 in touches) during pool play. In the direct elimination portion of the event, he defeated Andrew Stackhouse (15-8) in the round of 256. In the table of 128, Kaiser was edged 15-14 by top seeded Turner Caldwell. Caldwell, who finished second at last year's NCAA Championship, fences at Stanford.
Schneider (A11) began the event as the 85th seed, but went 6-0 (+19 touches) in pool play to win his pool and earn the eighth seed for direct elimination. After receiving a first round bye, Schneider defeated Daniel Gu 15-12 before falling to Owen Sconzo, 15-12, in the round of 64. Schneider tied-for-33rd in the final rankings.
