SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Wayne State University men's fencing team earned 10 victories during the two-day men's competition and is in 19th place out of 21 teams at the 2013 NCAA Fencing Championships at Freeman Coliseum.
Sophomore
Quentin Schneider (Gonesse, France) tallied seven wins, earning 20th place overall in the men's foil. Schneider posted victories over Penn State's Miles Chamley-Watson, who finished in a tie for third, and St. Johns' Michele Caporizzi, who placed ninth in the foil, among his bouts.
Schneider had a record of 7-16. Schneider was making his second straight appearance at the NCAA Fencing Championships. He finished the season with 92 victories.
Senior
Nick Silantyev (
Tashkent, Uzbekistan) placed 24th in the men's sabre, posting a record of 3-20. One of Silantyev's victories was a 5-2 triumph over Columbia's William Spear, who ultimately finished fifth in the sabre competition.
With his three victories at the NCAA Championships, Silantyev wrapped up his Warrior career with 236 wins in just three seasons, which is the third-most triumphs in men's sabre history at Wayne State.

Olivia Dobbs and Kaja Klodawska will look to gain victories and points to help WSU climb the standings on Saturday and Sunday. Dobbs is competing in the foil, while Klodawska will participate in the sabre.
The preliminary rounds begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the finals taking place Sunday.
