Full ReleaseNORMAN, Okla. -- Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars for Divisions I, II and the NAIA have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and two Wayne State University Warriors were recognized for their outstanding performance both on the course and in the classroom.
Robert Favaro (LaSalle, Ont. / St. Thomas of Villanova) and
Austin Hill (Troy, Mich. / Avondale) earned the recognition based on their 2013-14 season.
A total of 207 players in Division I, 75 in Division II and 11 in NAIA earned the honor. Additionally, 46 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Favaro, who was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team this past season, played in 23 rounds carrying a stroke average of 76.78 per round. He finished in third at the Lake Superior Invite with a 146 (75, 71) to begin the season and tied-for-13th at the BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate with a 228 (77, 75, 76). The redshirt senior matched his career-low round of 69 during the final round of the first Midwest Regional where he tied for 13th with a 146 (77, 69). Favaro tied for 12th at the Purgatory Midwest Regional with a 150 (75, 75).
Hill was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team. The senior collected four top-10 finishes and concluded the season with a stroke average of 75.35 in 20 total rounds. He opened the season with a 148 (74, 74) to tie for fourth at the Lake Superior Invite, then he finished in a tie for fifth with a 223 (72, 70, 81) at the BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate where he carded a season-low round of 70. Hill concluded the fall season with a 148 (72, 76) at the second Midwest Regional where he tied for 10th. He was named GLIAC Golfer of the Week on April 3 after tying for medalist honors at the UW-Parkside Invitational with a 143 (70, 73).
