GLIAC -- Freshman
Grant Ofield (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) of the Wayne State University men's golf team was named GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
The recognition comes after Ofield achieved Co-Medalist honors at the Belterra Classic on Tuesday, just the second tournament of his collegiate career. Ofield and Missouri S&T's Rizq Adam Rohizam remained tied despite 54 holes of regulation and four playoff holes. The rookie Warrior carded a 209, which included rounds of 71, 69 and 69, the first two rounds in the 60s of his career as well as the second and third that were below par.Â
Ofield led WSU to a second-place showing among the 10-team field, the Green and Gold's eighth top-five placing in as many tournaments so far for the 2025-26 campaign.
Next up on the schedule will be Wayne State's final event of the 2025-26 regular season, the Ohio Dominican Bill Blazer Memorial Match Play. To be played on April 11-12, the tournament will be held at Lancaster Golf Club in Lancaster, Ohio.
