TIFFIN, Ohio – The Wayne State University women's indoor track team resumed its 2015 schedule on Saturday by participating in the Dragon Open hosted by Tiffin University.
Sophomore
Leah Ellis (Battle Creek, Mich. / Central) won the 400m in a time of 1:01.32 with junior
Chelsea Johnson (Oxford, Mich.) earning a pair of first-place finishes. Johnson won the 800m (2:21.97) and also the mile (5:13.40).
Junior
Kayla Balfour (St. Clair, Mich.) finished second in the mile (5:16.75), while senior
Kayla Smade (Columbus, Mich. / St. Clair) was sixth (5:22.69).
Sophomore
Leah Coonrod (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Gull Lake) won the 3k (10:38.88) with Smade finishing second (10:52.91).
Wayne State's 4x400m relay squad was the runners-up in a time of 4:05.89, while the 4000m Distance Medley Relay earned an 11 second victory with a time of 13:07.17.
For the second consecutive meet, redshirt freshman
Jewel Wilson (Voorhees, N.J. / Eastern) won the triple jump; this time with a distance of 10.45m.
Freshman
Jessie Kluz (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights / MMSTC) tied-for-second in the high jump (1.62m), while classmate
Han Dinh (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) placed fourth in the pole vault (2.90m).
WSU placed four runners in the 1,000m led by junior
Anne Okonowski (Dearborn, Mich. / Divine Child), who placed third in a time of 3:25.81. She was followed by freshman
Kaley Kauff (Allen Park, Mich.), who finished fourth (3:26.18), senior
Alyssa Auth (Eastpointe, Mich. / East Detroit), who placed fifth (3:30.96) and newcomer
Haley Reynolds (Riverview, Mich.), who finished sixth (3:35.35).
Sophomore
Imani Bush (Canton, Ohio / South) placed sixth in the 60m final (8.06), while a trio of Warriors scored in the 200m final. Sophomore
Kierra Johnson (Flint, Mich. / Brandon) tied-for- fifth (26.72), Bush was seventh (27.20) and sophomore
Christina Kollien (Alpena, Mich.) was ninth (27.80).
Junior
Abbey Filip (Jackson, Mich. / Addison) placed sixth in the 600m (1:51.11), while freshman
Sydney Vaughn (Canton, Ohio / South) was fourth in the 60m hurles (9.87).
Junior
Erika Perry (Romeo, Mich.) placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance (16.28m), while freshman
Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) was seventh (14.04m).
Top performances in the shot put were turned in by three redshirt freshman as
Elizabeth Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) finished fourth (12.47m),
Sloane Brunner (Washington, Mich. / Romeo) placed sixth (11.72m) and
Gabrielle Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) who finished seventh (11.68m). Elizabeth's mark of 12.47m was a school record.
