DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving defeated Findlay, 174-115, on Friday evening inside the Matthaei Natatorium. The Warriors posted 24 top-three finishes against the Oilers.
RELAY RESULTS - WSU placed first in the 200 medley relay with the quartet of juniors
Brenna Gabrielson (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) and
Emily Heitchue (Royal Oak, Mich.), and freshmen
Delayni Kornak-Kotarba (Comstock Park, Mich. / Rockford) and
Emma Weber (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Central) in a time of 1:48.94, while seniors
Elly Maleski (Cedar, Mich. / Traverse City West) and
Hannah Loesch (Pensacola, Fla.), sophomore
Makayla Myers (Hudsonville, Mich.) and junior
Emily Maraskine (Midland, Mich. / Dow) finished second (1:50.70).
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS - The Warriors took the first three finishes in the 1000 free with sophomore
Skyler Muzichuk (Clinton Twp., Mich. / International Academy of Macomb) placing first with a time of 10:53.38. Senior
Mallory Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.) touched the finish line in 11:07.83 for second place, while senior
Veronica Loock (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) placed third (11:16.83).
- Freshman
Hannah Berich (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) won the 200 free with a mark of 1:56.76, and senior
Kaylee Dolinski (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) notched a second-place finish in a time of 1:59.76. Berich also was victorious in the 100 free with a mark of 54.52, while Heitchue placed second in 54.80.
- Loesch was victorious in the 50 breaststroke with a mark of 31.01, while Heitchue posted a time of 31.16 to finish second. Loesch also placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.32), and junior Kalley Krueger (South Lyon, Mich.) posted a third-place finish (1:11.19).
- Wayne State garnered the first three finished in the 100 butterfly with Myers clinching the victory in 1:00.52. Freshman
Tai Furnari (Pleasant Ridge, Mich. / Ferndale) placed second (1:00.60), while sophomore
Abi Johns (Holland, Mich.) finished third (1:00.93).
- Freshman
Lezlie Bueno Estrada (Montes Urales, Mexico) won the 50 free with a mark of 24.24, while Weber placed third (25.17) and Gabrielson finished fourth (26.60).
- Junior
Elizabeth Rawlings (Armada, Mich. / Romeo) won the 1-meter diving with a score of 488.60, while senior
Alex Geddis-McCririe (Brighton, Mich.) placed second (456.15) and junior
Holly Krill (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Central) finished fourth (428.95).
- Geddis-McCririe finished first in the 3-meter diving (239.85), while Rawlings placed third (238.35) and Krill recorded a third-place finish (225.75).
- Gabrielson finished second in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 59.89, and Maraskine placed third in a time of 1:00.52.
UP NEXT - Wayne State will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. to take on Eastern Michigan on Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. This will be the final meet before the Warriors compete in the GLIAC Championships.
