J.V. Women's Basketball Tops Wayne County C.C., 74-64

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University J.V. women's basketball squad (2-0 overall) notched a 74-64 victory over Wayne County Community College (1-5 overall) on Monday.

Junior Lyndsey Matus (Millbury, Ohio / Toledo Central Catholic) led the Warriors with 17 points, including four three-pointers.

Freshman Grace George (DeWitt, Mich.), redshirt senior Liza Torgerson (Barrett, Minn. / West Central Area Secondary), and redshirt sophomore Chavon Tiggs also scored in double digits. George scored 14 points, Torgerson with 13 points, and Tiggs earned 11 points.

Junior Teresa Diehl (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Warren Regina) tallied up 12 points in her first game of the season. After participating in the cross country NCAA Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 17, Diehl walked onto the court and scored four three-pointers for WSU.

Leading the Wildcats was sophomore guard Donnetta Colbert with 25 points.

Wayne State will travel to Auburn Hills on Tuesday, Dec. 4, to play Oakland Community College.
