J.V. Women's Basketball Notches 75-66 Victory Over Oakland C.C.

WSU will host Concordia J.V. in its final contest on Friday, Dec. 14.

Liza Torgerson led the Warriors with 23 points.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's J.V. basketball squad (3-0 overall) topped Oakland Community College, 75-66, on Tuesday.

Redshirt senior Liza Torgerson (Barrett, Minn. / West Central Area Secondary) led the Warriors with 23 points, including a shot from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter. Torgerson also snagged five boards for the team and shot 100 percent from the charity stipe (14-of-14).

Junior Lyndsey Matus (Millbury, Ohio / Toledo Central Catholic) scored 20 points for WSU, tallying five triples throughout the game, while also grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds.

Junior Teresa Diehl (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Warren Regina) also reached double digits, scoring 15 points. Diehl connected on three triples in her second contest of the season.

Redshirt senior Daejia Hill (Muskegon, Mich. / Orchard View) tallied a total of nine rebounds and a team-high six assists, while logging nine points for Wayne State.

Redshirt sophomore Chavon Tiggs (Flint, Mich. / Dearborn Heights Robichaud) and sophomore Anna Ruhstorfer (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Flint Powers Catholic) also contributed buckets for the Warriors.

Up next, WSU will host Concordia J.V. in its final game of the season on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:00 PM.
