CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Freshman
Max Seabury (Hermitage, Tenn. / McGavock) competed at the USA Fencing North American Cup on Friday and finished 190th out of 256 fencers in the Division I epee pool. He entered the competition seeded 217th. The event took place at the Duke Energy Convention Center and continues through Monday.
Seabury advanced through pool play by going 2-4 with a -6 touch differential. He dropped a 5-4 match and a pair of 5-3 bouts. Seabury was one of 146 fencers to advance
to the direct elimination portion of the event out of the 256 total competitors.
In his first direct elimination bout, Seabury topped Liam McKinley 15-9, advancing to the round of 128 where he fell to 15th seeded Marc Antoine Blais Belanger, 15-1.
The men's fencing program continues its scheduled on Jan. 13th at the Detroit Mercy Duals.
