Women's Swim and Dive Upended by Eastern Michigan

The Warriors fell 193-49 to the Division I team.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad fell, 193-49, to Division I-Eastern Michigan at home on Saturday afternoon.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Senior Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central) recorded third-place finishes in the one-meter dive (267.60 points) and in the three-meter dive (288.60 points), earning NCAA B-cuts in both events.

Senior Aliza Durack (West Bloomfield, Mich.) swam the third fastest time in the 50 free (25.49).

Junior Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) notched third-place finishes in the 100 free (53.55) and the 100 breast (1:07.68).  Redshirt junior Allison Lennig (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) completed the 100 free in fourth place (55.51).

Senior Ashlen Michalski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed third in the 100 back with a time of 59.55.

Senior Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) landed in fourth place in the 400 IM (4:51.28), followed by freshman Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) in fifth place (4:53.05).

Junior Sophie Montesanti (Howell, Mich.) completed the 1000 free in fifth place with a time of 11:13.66.

Freshman Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) placed fifth in the 500 free (5:18.86), followed by Montesanti in sixth place (5:30.39).

Fox finished the 200 free with a time of 1:59.68, followed by Michalski in 2:03.88.

Junior Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) earned a time of 1:00.75 in the 100 fly, with sophomore Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) shortly behind in 1:02.75.

RELAY RESULTS
WSU was the runner-up in the 200 medley relay (1:49.45).  The quartet consisted of Michalski as the lead off, Koh, Brunner, and Groteler as the anchor.

Wayne State also claimed the second spot in the 200 free relay (1:39.47).  The group included Groteler, Brunner, Durack, and freshman Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece).

The Warriors will travel to Findlay on Friday, Jan. 17th, for a 5:00 p.m. meet against the Oilers.
