Women's Swim and Dive Notches 165-126 Victory at Findlay

WSU had six first-place individual events and two first-place relays.

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The 16th-ranked Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad earned a 165-126 win at Findlay on Friday evening.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Junior Amanda Hurchalla (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Fraser) had the highest scoring one-meter dive with an NCAA B-cut score of 276.68 points.

Freshman Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australie) notched victories in the 200 free (1:59.25) and in the 500 free (5:17.94). Redshirt junior Allison Lennig (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) claimed the third spot in the 200 free, swimming the race in 2:02.93. Freshman Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) completed the 500 free in third place with a time of 5:29.92.

Sophomore Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) earned first-place finishes in the 100 fly (1:00.09) and the 100 free (54.47), and a second-place finish in the 50 fly (26.79). Freshman Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) was the runner-up in the 100 free, completing the event in 55.16. Junior Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) placed third in the 50 fly with a time of 27.18.

Senior Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central) scored 238.58 points on the three-meter dive.

Sophomore Ashleigh Allen (Clarkston, Mich.) was the runner-up in the 1000 free, completing the event in 11:13.06.

Senior Ashlen Michalski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed second in the 50 back (27.43), followed by freshman Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) in third place (27.70).

Additionally, Chorley completed the 100 back in second place with a time of 59.04, followed by Michalski in third place (59.39).

Groteler finished second in the 50 free, swimming the event in 25.25, and was trailed by senior Aliza Durack (West Bloomfield, Mich.) in third place with a time of 25.57.

Junior Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) completed the 100 breast (1:08.63) and the 100 IM (1:01.04) in second place and the 50 breast in third place with a time of 31.25. Senior Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed third in the 100 breast (1:09.19) and in the 100 IM (1:01.45).

RELAY RESULTS
WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:48.72). The winning group included Michalski as the lead off, Koh, Groteler, and Durack as the anchor.

Wayne State also won the 200 free relay (1:38.25). The first-place quartet consisted of Brunner, Durack, Groteler, and Michalski.

"The Warriors did a great job of stepping up and racing against a very strong opponent in Findlay," commented head coach Sean Peters. "We were definitely motivated to perform well tonight, and I saw some improvements from last week. With about five weeks until our conference meet, I enjoy watching our Warriors come together and grow stronger as a team."

UP NEXT
The Warriors will host 15th-ranked Grand Valley State at the Matthaei Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 25th, at 1:00 p.m. for the final meet of the season.
